On August Bank Holiday monday we went to see the opening ceremony of the World Firefighter Games 2008 at the Liverpool Echo Arena, a fabulous new addition to Liverpool.

As the announcer opened proceedings, his voice boomed around the venue. Our youngest turned to me and said, “Dad, there really in an ‘echo’ in here!”

We went to Bournemouth for a family holiday and in all the important ways it was excellent.

We did enter a strange world on Friday evening, though, when we visited the pier approach and gardens for the Friday night celebrations.
