Sunset over the Irish Sea

Driving home last night I thought I’d stop for a moment at Moreton shore. I wanted to see where the sun would meet the horizon at sunset in the hope that it would be near a wind farm out at sea - that could make quite a striking photo.

The tide was right up so the sea was very noisy, and there were a couple of blokes fishing with their massive sea rods from the shore.

It turns out that the sun would disappear nowhere near the wind farm as seen from Moreton, so I’ll try again further West sometime.

However, as I prepared to leave I was aware of other people arriving and realised I’d forgotten this little ritual. It’s quite a sight to see the sun set over the Irish Sea, watching the changing colours of the sky as the sun slowly disappears behind the horizon. Such a sight that people come just to see it. They were getting out of their cars and taking up position just to watch the daily, beautiful, cosmic drama.

Sometimes you just need to take a moment out to see something remarkable in the everyday.
