Our eldest son, in search of his football coat: “Mum, is my washing basket on the aerial?”
Mum: “I don’t understand the question.”
Son: “Where’s my football coat?”
(pause)
Mum: “Why did you ask about washing baskets and aerials?”
Son: “I didn’t…”

We were watching Doctor Who.
After 20 minutes or so, the youngest (who had been on a separate chair) walked across the room and said, I’m not scared, it’s just that I want to sit on dad’s knee.

Our 5-year-old was watching an exciting, up-beat advert for Kellogg’s Frosties, ending with the inevitable, “Can we get some of those, dad?”
When I told him that we already had some Frosties in the cupboard, he said, “No, I want Frosties like the ones on the TV.”
